The firesuit Mark is wearing was won by Cullen Casey in a drawing on April 2nd. Cullen will be attending the race as Hendrick Motorsports guest and have his picture taken with Mark Martin.

It's that time of year again when the best of the women tennis pros converge on Daniel Island, SC for the 2010 Family Circlce Cup Professional Women's Tennis Tounament. Rick Hendrick Jeep Chrysler Dodge in North Charleston, will be one of the sponsors again this year. The event runs from April 10th to April 18th at the Family Circle Tennis Center on Danial Island, SC.

The winner, announced on Friday, April 2nd was Cullen Casey from Glendive, Montana. Cullen was chosen from over 20000 entries on the Hendrickcars.com website. Kenya’s Simon Ndirangu wins Bridge Run

In near record time, Kenya's Simon Ndirangu won the 2010 running of the Cooper River Bridge Run. Mesekerem Assefa, of Ethiopia won the women's division, Nikolay Kerimov, of Russia, won the men’s masters division. Neville Miller won the men’s Marcus Newberry division, given to the top local finisher and Rives Poe was the women’s winner .  Congratulations to all who participated in the bridge run.

FLOWERTOWN FESTIVAL

The annual Flowertown Festival  will be held March 27, 28th and 29th in downtown Summerville. This nationally acclaimed festival is South Carolina's largest Arts & Crafts festival and has been named one of the Top 20 Events in the Southeast by the Southeast Tourism Society. COOPER RIVER BRIDGE RUN THIS SATURDAY

 The Cooper River Bridge run has been a local tradition that stretches back to 1978. The  10-K race draws more than 30,000 participants every year, including runners and walkers from around the world. Celebrities such as Bill Murray and Oprah Winfrey have been spotted in the crowd crossing the bridge from Mt. Pleasant to scenic downtown Charleston. The race starts at 8:00 am Saturday March 27th.

EVENTS FOR SATURDAY, DECEMBER 5TH IN CHARLESTON

It will be a busy day in Charleston on Saturday December 5th. Starting at 9:00 AM, the annual 5K Reindeer Walk will take place starting at 161 East Bay St in front of Southend Brewery. The Reindeer Run benefits MUSC Children's Hospital. Call (843) 345-6906 for details.

HOLIDAY FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS

The annual Holiday Festival of Lights is now open to the public on James Island. The 3 mile driving tour is a light extravaganza that draws thousands of visitors each year and features over 500,000 lights.

HISTORIC DAY FOR HENDRICK MOTORSPORTS

Sunday was a historic day for Hendrick Motorsports at Homestead-Miami Raceway. Jimmy Johnson won an unpecedented FOURTH Nascar Sprint Cup Championship in a row. In addition, Hendrick Motorsports took the top three spots in the Nascar Final Standings, another historic landmark. With the Championship going to Jimmy Johnson, Mark Martin finished second in the standings followed by Jeff Gordon. Mr. Hendrick was unable to be at the track for the historisc day due to a family medical emergency. The race was won by Denny Hamlin with Jimmy finishing fifth, Jeff Gordon was sisth and Mark Martin finished 12th.

Lucy Beckham, Principal of Wando High School, Honored as National High School Principal of the Year

Columbia, SC (AP) Wando High School Principal Lucy Beckham has been honored by the National Association of Secondary School Principals as the 2010 National High School Principal of the Year. The announcement was made Monday at the Mount Pleasant school.

Wando is the state's largest school with more than 3,200 students. Beckham has been principal since 1998 and helped oversee the move to a new, larger building in 2004.

The school has received "excellent" ratings since state report cards were first issued in 2001.

Beckham will be honored during a banquet next month in Washington.

PRELUDE TO THE DREAM RACE

Tony Stewart passed Kenny Wallace on lap 13 and went on to win the Prelude to the Dream race at Eldora Speedway Wednesday night in front of over 23000 fans. Clint Boyer was second followed by Kyle Busch, Ryan Newman and Matt Kenseth. Jimmie Johnson, driving the Hendrickcars.com car finished 10th.

The proceeds from the event went to support four military-themed charities: Wounded Warrior Project, Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund, Operation Homefront, and Fisher House. These four charities all cater to severely injured military personnel or fallen heroes and their families.

This is the second year in a row that Stewart has won the race at his home track. There will be replays throughout the week and this weekend.

2008 Jeep Patriot Gets Top Crash Test Rating from Auto Safety group
In mid-October, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety revised its crash test rating of the 2008 Jeep Patriot, upgrading the frontal crash test result to “Good,” the institute’s top rating. In addition to the top rating for frontal protection, the 2008 Jeep Patriot, equipped with available front torso airbags, also was rated “Good” for side impact protection and “Acceptable” for rear crash protection.
